Caterina Perazzi
Director, choreographer, performer
My artistic path began with dance, then in parallel to my classical studies, I began to engage with visual and performance arts, following which theatre, and then vocal-musical work. My preferences quickly established themselves for rigorous experimental and “un-disciplined” forms of research. My encounters with other artists - Cinzia De Lorenzi, Julyen Hamilton, Simone Forti, Filippo Monico, Enrique Pardo, Danio Manfredini - confirmed that direction.
My path is joyfully non-linear and my language flexible in accord to the changing deepest Necessity that leads me in my research.
In Italy I performed with E.S.T.I.A., Estenombre, Oltremosso (performance and dance-theatre), at the same time as developing my own creative work.
Interested in spontaneous composition, I worked with visual artists and musicians, researching the free form, between concert and performance-art, dance and theatre. Since 2001 in Paris, I work as actress and dancer with several companies in France and abroad.
In 2003 I created "Solo for Shadows" - since then presented in France, Italy, Bosnie-Herzégovine and U.S.A. - with which I confirmed the radicalism of my research in a theatrical language which has nothing to do with conventions. Against an art of consumption, my work endeavours to reach the public without mediation, in the depths of the individual and collective unconscious.
In 2004, I co-directed and performed with S. Lewis "Oreste: studio n1", in France and U.S.A.
In 2006 I directed "The Young Girl without hands".
In 2007 I directed "Shut Your Eyes" and the experimental cabaret "Au-delà du son".
Since 2009, I got back to work on improvisation and performance art as part of the ANANKE collective and in my creations "De(s)collages" and "Still Life".
I'm currently developing "PNEUMA – Origines" an immersive acousmatic work with composer Jean Voguet on artist Claude Nguyen, co-produced by CRANE_ Centre des ressources (FR).
In the meanwhile I ‘m working at the performance/installation "Great Mother Goddess - regressive listening box", helped by plasticians Justine Macadoux and Violaine de Cazenove. J. Voguet composes the sound for the Goddess "box"…
As author and performer, I’m developing the musical and poetical project "Temps perdu" with composer Christine Schaller.
Member of the Roy Hart Center, I teach theatre and movement in France and abroad.
